Walking in Santiago, Chile

07/30/09 17:06

I decided to walk the streets of the city and started the San Joaquin neighborhood. The streets are very moving and is a  middle-class zone, The people are friendly, and although I also speak Spanish, it is not easy to understand the dialect.

One thing to keep in mind, is being careful with cameras, cell phones, jewelry, etc. Several people told me, it is common that these things are stolen

There are many shops selling furniture, clothes, shoes, etc, and the prices are quite accessible, the distribution of places is rare, large warehouses are divided into small stands. There are variety of furniture, modern, old, minimalist, cottage, with many colors and styles.

Also you can see many typical food sellers on the sidewalks. Some of these are: sopaipilla, anticuchos and empanadas (a kind of pie) another thing that impressed me is how many cars there are in the city, it seems that purchasing power is quite good in the Chilean capital .

Other information for those who do not speak Spanish is that most Chileans do not know English and are very difficult to find places where they speak other languages, So if you plan to travel to chile, bring a dictionary to help you and certainly enjoy the warmth of the Andean people !!!!
