Chile's Ecomic Growth

Chilean officials believes that their economy grew by almost 6.2 percent in a year ending in July but inflation hit 9.3 percent in a year ending in the month of August.

According to Thursday's Central Bank report, gross domestic product for July was aided by 2 more working days as well as growth in commerce and communications.

The government expects economic growth of 4 to 4.5 percent this year against 5.2 percent in 2007

Chilean stocks tumble

Quite expectedly, the Chilean stock market fell by as much as 1.3% last Monday after the news of Lehman Brothers's bankruptcy came out.
