Independence Day the world over is something special and countries that did not get independence from anyone, have invented an equivalent anyway. Itīs a national "let your hair down" day and the party is one! For Chile it is "el dieciocho", September 18th. when Independence was proclaimed in 1810. It is a two-day affair in which everything goes: family-wide roasts, hamburgers, games, a huge get together...and alcohol. As the author tells us there are multiple styles and ways to get high on booze. Wine, chicha and pisco in several different containers and fashions are a must. Then, of course, the hangover pills come in handy!
